The Challenge
Despite of having a rich biodiversity, Bangladesh has one of the lowest per capita forestlands in the world, mostly due to the high human population density in urban areas. About 11% land area is covered with trees and forests, and is home to thousands of native animals, birds, reptiles and other fauna - thirty-one species of which have gone extinct over the last century. Many of the species are facing continuous threat of extinction due to deforestation.
Moreover, even other than being one of the most densely populated and polluted cities in the world, Dhaka city in particular, has a staggering lack of efforts in creating green spaces, managing plastic pollution and roadside waste (litter).
Rising seas are also a growing threat. It has been estimated that by 2050, one in every seven people in Bangladesh will be displaced by climate change. Bangladesh may lose approximately 11% of its land by then, and up to 18 million people may have to migrate.
The Problems we are trying to Solve
Changemakers are encouraged to submit solutions that attempt to help your community tackle issues in climate that will help future generations. The solutions can include:
- Increasing and protecting green spaces - What solutions can you pitch to create and nurture more green spaces in densely populated areas?
- Improving biodiversity - How can your project protect endangered and existing species in our country?
- Awareness Campaigns - Does your project or pitch spread awareness on how we can all protect our planet together? Your campaigns can include innovative or effective ways to target groups of people on climate change, recycling, reuse, pollution, gardening or green living.
- Income Generation through climate-friendly methods - Your pitch can also target the creation of jobs or methods through which communities benefit from income while taking care of the environment.
- Combating Plastic or Waste - What can we do to tackle excessive plastic use, or take care of the plastic already in our environment and water?
Judging Criteria
Judges evaluate submitted solutions using the following criteria. Judges assign a numerical score for each criterion from which an average score for each solution is calculated. Each criterion has equal weight. After solutions have been evaluated, a ranked-list of solutions is then created for further consideration by the Judges. Judges deliberate twice: once to select finalists and again to select winners.
Alignment: The solution correctly addresses the Challenge in question.
Potential for Impact: The planned solution implementation has the potential to impact the intended population.
Feasibility: The team has a realistic, practical plan for implementing the solution, and it is feasible in the given context.
Innovative Approach: The solution includes a unique approach to a social issue, new technology, a new business model, or a new process for solving the Challenge.
Understanding uniqueness of a Community or Group: The solution is designed with and for underserved communities, and the solution team are working closely with the community and embodies and addresses key social issues particular to that community through their solution.
Who can submit a Pitch or solution?
Any NGOs, Volunteer or youth organizations and non-profits, both registered and unregistered, operating in Bangladesh can submit a Pitch. You can be an individual, a team, or an organization. You can be an applicant from previous years or already part of our community. It is required that you have at least 6 months of on-field experience on any activity for your organization from any part of Bangladesh to ensure that you can carry out the solution if they get support.
Current and alumni of Kindness Campaign and Pitch for Bangladesh are allowed to apply to a new Challenge; however, the solution must be new and not be the same solution that was previously selected and supported by Pitch for Bangladesh. What type of solutions will Solve accept?
We seek innovative, human-centered solutions to our Pitch Challenges. Our definition of “human-centered” is broad: in addition to understanding what the solution is, we are looking for teams with a deep understanding of the problems of any particular social issue they are trying to solve.
Solution applications must be written in English.
Can my organization submit a solution to multiple Global Challenges?
Of course. Each team can submit as many Submissions as they want.
What will I get if my solution is selected?
If you are selected as a Solver, you’ll be immediately granted access to our month-long Learning Program, which will feature experts from all fields in Bangladesh teaching you how to develop your organization and idea.

Your pitch will be presented to Corporate partners of the platform for funding and partnership. If your goals align with the CSR teams of these corporates, you will be guided through a partnership process. Through these connections, you’ll get funded, build the partnerships needed to accelerate your work, validate your impact and business model, and scale your solution.
Is there a Registration fee?
No. Each team or organization can submit as many pitches as they want, free of cost.
Can I edit my submissions?
Once you submit your pitches, they cannot be edited. If you need to correct something crucial, please feel free to contact us through our social media links in the footer (bottom) of this website.
